How can you certify me to be a solo diver?

I can’t.
If you need permission to dive solo, then you shouldn’t dive solo. If you’re already diving solo and think the solo diver card may be a useful tool at diving resorts or on dive boats when you wish to dive solo, or even just as a philosophical statement, then the solo diver card is for you.

What authority comes with the solo diver card?

The solo diver card represents whatever authority YOU have as a self-reliant diver. If you wish to mis-represent yourself or your diving skills with the solo diver card, then you deserve what you get when you dive solo unprepared and non-self reliant.

Can I buy the solo diver card just to impress my friends?

Sure, go for it.

Where can I get good information on solo diving?

I have included a couple of really good articles on solo diving under Related Site Links. Also, SDI offers a certification course in solo diving. If you’re at all unsure whether or not you want the BWD solo diver card instead of a “valid” certification such as that which is offered by SDI, I strongly urge that you pay SDI lots of money and meet their requirements as a solo diver. Of course, if you have to ask permission to solo dive, then you really shouldn’t be diving solo.
